System replacement

System replacement and AC installation in Brunswick, GA

System replacement is taking out worn-out equipment and installing a properly sized new system — condenser, coil or air handler, and the duct and drain work around it. You need it when repairs start stacking up, the system uses R-22, or it runs constantly and still cannot hold the house.

Signs you need this

Replacement is a big number, so we would rather you recognise the moment yourself than be talked into it on a hot afternoon.

  • The system is 12 to 15 years old and this is the second or third repair in two summers.
  • It takes R-22. Parts are scarce and the refrigerant costs more than the repair used to.
  • It runs almost nonstop from June through September and still leaves the upstairs four degrees warm.
  • Power bills have climbed year over year with no change in how you live in the house.
  • The condenser cabinet and coil are corroded through from salt air — common on St. Simons, Sea Island, and anywhere near the marsh.
  • It was flooded or submerged in a storm surge, or the pad and lineset were damaged in a hurricane.

What the visit looks like

  1. Step 1

    Arrival

A comfort advisor comes out, walks the house with you, and asks what actually bothers you — hot rooms, humidity, noise, bills.

  2. Step 2

    Diagnosis

We measure: room-by-room load, duct sizing, static pressure, insulation, window exposure. Sizing here is set by humidity load, not square footage off a chart.

  3. Step 3

    The quote

Two or three written options — good, better, best — with model numbers, efficiency, warranty terms, and the total. No same-day-only pricing games.

  4. Step 4

    The work

Most changeouts are one day. New pad, lineset flush or replacement, sealed plenum, correct charge, and a walkthrough of the thermostat before we leave.

What it costs, before we start

Estimates for replacement are free — there is no $95 diagnostic on a quote visit. That fee only applies when we are diagnosing a broken system, and it is credited toward the repair if you approve it that day.

The written quote covers permit, equipment, labor, the drain and pad work, and haul-away of the old system. It is a total, not a starting point, and it does not change once the trucks arrive.

We match any fair local quote on identical equipment — bring the paperwork and we will go line by line with you. Most families spread the cost with 0% financing for 18 months on approved credit.

Questions we get

How big a system does my house need?

Smaller than most people guess. Oversized equipment short-cycles, never runs long enough to wring water out of the air, and leaves you cold and clammy — which is why we do a load calculation on the actual house instead of a tons-per-square-foot rule. Getting humidity right here matters more than raw capacity.

Which brands do you install?

We install and stock parts for mainstream American equipment we can service for the next 15 years, and we will tell you where the money genuinely buys better dehumidification — a variable-speed system holds humidity far better on a mild, wet day than a single-stage unit does.

Does salt air really shorten equipment life this close to the water?

Yes. Within a couple of miles of the sound, coils corrode years earlier. For island homes we recommend coated coils, set units where prevailing salt spray does not hit them, and include a rinse on maintenance visits. It adds a little up front and buys several years.

How long does it take, and what happens on install day?

One day for a straight changeout, two if we are reworking ducts or moving the air handler. We lay drop cloths, pull the permit, and pass inspection ourselves. You will have cooling again by evening in nearly every case.

Every hour without AC gets worse.
