Repair it or replace it?
Nobody should talk you into a new system. Four questions usually settle it on their own.
How old is it? Under 10 years, repair it. Over 15 on the coast, start planning. Between the two, it depends on the next three answers.
What does it use? Older systems run R-22, which is no longer made. A big leak on an R-22 unit is often the end of the road.
How big is the repair? If one repair costs more than about a third of a new system, put the money toward the new one instead.
How often are we out there? Two or three service calls in one summer is the system telling you something.
